Tata Motors has officially announced that its compact SUV, the Tata Punch, has crossed the 6-lakh production milestone in less than four years—making it the fastest SUV in India to achieve this feat. Launched in October 2021, the Punch has not only pioneered the sub-compact SUV segment but also emerged as a cultural icon for modern Indian mobility.
The Tata Punch’s journey from production start to reaching key milestones shows how quickly it has gained popularity. It hit 1 lakh units in August 2022, and by May 2023, it sold 2 lakhs. The count grew to 3 lakhs by December 2023, then 4 lakhs in July 2024. By January 2025, Tata had produced 5 lakh units, and by July 2025, that number increased to 6 lakhs.
