Audi e-tron GT & RS e-tron GT Recalled in India for Fire Hazard Issue
Audi India has initiated a voluntary recall for the e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT performance electric vehicles. This action affects 31 units produced between January 9, 2020, and February 16, 2024. The recall stems from potential irregularities in the battery module, which could result in overheating and, in extreme cases, fire. Certain individual cell modules within the battery pack may exhibit technical anomalies, increasing the risk of thermal runaway.

In its report, Audi India mentioned, Certain high-voltage battery modules might display technical anomalies. These anomalies could be linked to potential production irregularities at the supplier’s end, impacting the affected vehicle. Furthermore, under specific conditions, the high-voltage battery might experience excessive heat, significantly increasing the risk of fire. This could potentially result in harm to vehicle occupants, nearby individuals, and property damage.

Both the Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT, imported as fully assembled vehicles (CBUs), are subject to a recall. Audi will contact the owners and provide a free repair.
