Triumph Tiger 1200: Design and Features
The Tiger 1200 has some cool new features. One of them is the Active Preload Reduction system for the rear suspension. This system lowers the rear suspension when you stop the bike. It also lets you reduce the seat height by up to 20 mm with just a press of a button. The GT Pro version has a seat height that you can adjust between 850 and 870 mm. On the other hand, the Rally Pro model stands taller at 875 to 895 mm.

The Tiger 1200 series features a sturdy tubular steel frame and a twin-sided “Tri-Link” aluminum swingarm. It comes with Showa’s 49mm semi-active damping USD forks that provide 200mm of wheel travel. At the back, there’s a semi-active monoshock with electronic preload adjustment and the innovative Active Preload Reduction function.
The Tiger 1200 Rally Pro still has its large 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels that don’t need tubes. Meanwhile, the GT Pro version has slightly smaller 19-inch front wheels and 18-inch rear wheels made of cast aluminum. For braking, the Brembo monoblock radial calipers and twin 320mm floating discs take care of things at the front. At the back, there’s a single 282mm disc with a Brembo single-piston caliper to handle braking duties.

The Tiger 1200 lineup now has a revamped 1160 cc inline-triple engine. This engine received upgrades to its crankshaft, alternator rotor, and balancer shaft. It also underwent a recalibration to improve torque delivery at lower RPMs. According to Triumph, these updates have made the low rpm torque delivery smoother. They also mentioned that the new clutch allows for an easier shift into first gear. Even with these modifications, the power numbers stay the same – 148 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 130 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.
