Mercedes-Benz G-Class Limited to 460 Units and ‘Stronger Than The 1980s’ Brings Retro Vibes in Style
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled an exclusive special edition of its iconic off-roader—the Mercedes G-Class Edition ‘Stronger Than The 1980s’, paying homage to the original G-Wagen (W 460). Limited to just 460 units globally, this model captures the retro essence of the first-gen G-Class while blending it seamlessly with modern engineering.

A Retro-Inspired Exterior
Staying true to its 1980s heritage, this special edition G-Class comes in three distinctive exterior color options:
- MANUFAKTUR Agave Green Solid
- MANUFAKTUR Cream Solid
- MANUFAKTUR Colorado Beige Solid
Other nostalgic design elements include silver-finished 5-spoke alloy wheels, blacked-out bumpers and grille, protective headlamp grates, and period-correct orange turn indicators. The traditional hard wheel cover has also been swapped for a soft cover sporting a classic Mercedes-Benz logo.

A Cabin That Honors the Original
Step inside, and the tribute to the past continues. The ‘Shockl Proved’ badge displays an image of the 1980s G-Class in the vehicle’s body color, while the seats feature grey fabric center sections reminiscent of classic designs. The passenger grab handle proudly showcases the ‘Stronger Than The 1980s’ branding, and each unit has a ‘1 of 460’ embossed marking on the center console, emphasizing its exclusivity.

Mercedes-Benz G-Class: Engine Variants
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class Edition STRONGER THAN THE 1980s may look retro, but it packs a punch under the hood with two powerful engine options:
G450d: This model comes with a 3.0-liter straight-six diesel engine that pumps out 362 bhp.
G500: With a 3.0-liter straight-six petrol engine that generates 440 bhp.
These engine choices maintain the Mercedes-Benz off-road prowess, delivering top-notch performance and maneuverability on all types of terrain.

Limited Availability – Will It Come to India?
Although Mercedes-Benz has previously introduced limited-run editions of the G-Class in India, there’s no official confirmation on whether the ‘Stronger Than The 1980s’ edition will make its way to Indian shores. The last special edition available in India was the AMG G 63 Grand Edition in 2023.
