Mercedes-Benz GLB Discontinued in India After Just 2 Years on Sale
Mercedes-Benz, a top luxury car maker, has stopped selling its entry-level seven-seater SUV, the GLB, in India. The Mercedes-Benz GLB used to offer a budget-friendly option for those looking to step into the luxury SUV world, but its time in India has now wrapped up.
In December 2022, Mercedes introduced the GLB in India, shipping it as a fully assembled import from their plant in Mexico. Even though it was marketed as a budget-friendly luxury SUV, priced lower than competitors such as the Land Rover Discovery Sport, it didn’t fly off the shelves. Nonetheless, Mercedes-Benz stayed positive about its sales forecasts, and they have now successfully sold all the units set aside for the Indian market.

Mercedes-Benz GLB Price and Competition
The GLB falls within the price range of Rs 63.80 lakh to Rs 69.80 lakh (ex-showroom), making it an affordable choice in the luxury category. In comparison to the Discovery Sport, the GLB offers a price benefit ranging from Rs 1.60 to Rs 7.60 lakh. This makes it an appealing option for customers seeking a luxurious SUV with advanced features at a reasonable cost.

What’s Next for Mercedes-Benz in India?
Even though the GLB is no longer on the market, Mercedes-Benz still provides the fully electric EQB SUV in India. You can choose from two variants: the EQB 250+ for Rs 72.20 lakh and the EQB 350 for Rs 78.90 lakh (both ex-showroom). The EQB offers a green option to the now unavailable GLB, fitting in with the worldwide move towards electric vehicles.
Mercedes-Benz is busy developing the next version of the GLB, set to be revealed in 2026. The upcoming model is anticipated to showcase a new look, enhanced functionalities, and might even offer hybrid or fully electric choices to meet the changing needs of customers.
