In the rapidly evolving landscape of electric vehicles (EVs), MG Motor India has emerged as a formidable player, thanks to the remarkable success of its MG Windsor EV. Launched in September 2024, the Windsor EV has quickly become a cornerstone of MG’s sales strategy, contributing significantly to the brand’s overall performance.

Since its launch, the Windsor EV has consistently driven MG Motor India’s sales figures. In the last quarter of 2024, the company despatched a total of 10,045 units of the Windsor EV, accounting for 49 percent of its total passenger vehicle sales. This impressive performance underscores the growing acceptance and demand for electric vehicles in the Indian market.

The Windsor EV’s sales have shown a steady month-on-month increase. In October 2024, MG Motor India sold 3,116 units of the Windsor EV, followed by 3,144 units in November, and a remarkable 3,785 units in December. This consistent growth highlights the vehicle’s strong market presence and consumer appeal.

MG Motor India Expanding Market Share

MG Motor India’s overall EV sales have seen a significant boost, with the company’s EV market share increasing from 11 percent in 2023 to 21 percent in 2024. This growth has propelled MG to the No. 2 position in the Indian EV market, trailing only behind Tata Motors, whose market share fell by 10 percent to 62 percent in 2024.

To capitalize on the growing demand for EVs, MG Motor India has been expanding its sales network to Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities, as well as rural markets across the country. The company aimed to set up 100 new touchpoints by the end of 2024 and plans to have 520 touchpoints in 270 cities by the end of March 2025.

Looking ahead, MG Motor India is set to showcase its latest innovations at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025.
