One of the standout features of the XC70 is its impressive 200 km all-electric range—a significant milestone in the realm of plug-in hybrid vehicles. While this range is based on the CLTC cycle, global markets can expect a slightly lower figure when tested under WLTP standards.

Although Volvo has kept powertrain specifics under wraps, expectations are high for a larger battery capacity than the XC60 PHEV’s 18.8 kWh pack. Fast-charging capabilities are confirmed, ensuring reduced charging times, but official charging specifications are yet to be revealed.

Design Inspired by Volvo’s Electric Lineup
The Volvo XC70 Plug-In Hybrid takes a lot of design cues from Volvo’s electric cars like the EM90 and EX90. Some cool features to note are the Thor’s Hammer LED DRLs, which are a Volvo trademark, and the vertically arranged LED headlights that improve how well you can see. Plus, it has active grille shutters that help with airflow and keeping the cabin just the right temperature. At the back, you’ll find C-shaped tail lamps with a unique lighting pattern that extends onto the rear window.

Volvo has confirmed that the XC70 will first launch in China, with global rollout following at a later stage. Given the growing market demand for sustainable hybrid technology, this SUV is expected to make a strong impact in the premium hybrid segment.
