Honda Amaze Secures 5-Star Bharat NCAP Rating

Honda Amaze earns a 5-star Bharat NCAP adult rating and 4-star child score, with 6 airbags standard across variants in India.

The third-generation Honda Amaze has achieved a 5-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests, cementing its position as one of the safer compact sedans on sale in India. It is only the second sedan, after its key rival Maruti Dzire, to be tested under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme. Importantly for buyers, this safety rating applies to all six variants of the current-gen Amaze that are on sale alongside the previous-gen model.

In adult occupant protection, the Amaze delivered a strong performance, scoring 28.33 out of a possible 32 points and earning a full 5-star rating. During the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the sedan scored 14.33 out of 16. The results showed Average to Good protection for the driver and Good protection for the front passenger, indicating a well-engineered cabin structure and restraint system.

In the side movable deformable barrier test, the Amaze added another 14 out of 16 points, with only the driver’s chest area rated as offering Marginal protection. The car was also assessed as acceptable in the side pole impact test, further underlining the robustness of its safety shell.

Child occupant protection is an increasingly critical parameter for Indian families, and here the Honda Amaze scored 40.81 out of 49 points, translating to a 4-star rating. The compact sedan posted an impressive dynamic score of 23.81 out of 24, with just a minor deduction for the 18-month-old child dummy, while the 3-year-old child dummy received full protection.

The Amaze also received full marks, 12 out of 12, for child restraint system installation thanks to its ISOFIX mounts and well-designed seating layout. The vehicle assessment score stood at 5 out of 13, highlighting some room for improvement in child-specific safety provisions, but the overall performance remains strong for the segment.

One of the key talking points is that Honda has equipped all six variants of the third-gen Amaze with a comprehensive set of safety features as standard. Every version gets six airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, electronic stability control, ABS, rear parking sensors and seat-belt reminders. Mid-level trims add conveniences like a rear parking camera and blind spot monitoring, while the top-spec variants go a step further with an ADAS suite, enhancing active safety and driver assistance.
