Honda Cars India (HCIL) has announced a voluntary recall to replace the fuel pump in 90,468 cars. This effort will also include 2,204 units of older models that have already had this part replaced as a spare. The recall applies to various models from Honda, both current and no longer in production, such as the Honda City, Amaze, Brio, BR-V, WR-V, Jazz, and Accord. Not included in this recall are the new Honda Elevate and the older Mobilio models.

Honda Faulty Fuel Pump Recall

Honda has issued a recall for cars produced between September 2017 and June 2018 due to faulty fuel pumps. The defective impellers in the pumps could lead to engine failure or difficulty starting the car. Starting on November 5, 2024, Honda will replace these faulty parts for free at their dealerships in India. If your vehicle is affected, Honda will reach out to you directly to schedule the replacement.

You can verify if your vehicle is included in the recall by entering your 17-character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on Honda’s website. Additionally, if you purchased the fuel pump assembly from authorized Honda Cars dealers between June 2017 and October 2023, you can also have your vehicle inspected at Honda Cars dealerships.

As per the information given to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there’s a problem with how high-pressure fuel pumps are made. They might develop cracks that could get worse while the pump is working. This issue could cause fuel leaks, putting you at risk of being injured.
