Kia India adds Carens Clavis HTE (EX) trim, bringing sunroof and auto AC from ₹12.55 lakh. A more value-packed 7-seater MPV option.
Kia India has widened the appeal of its popular Kia Carens Clavis MPV by launching a new Carens Clavis HTE (EX) variant in the internal combustion engine lineup. Positioned between the existing HTE (O) and HTK+ trims, this new offering brings coveted features like a sunroof and automatic climate control to a more accessible price bracket, starting at ₹12.55 lakh (ex-showroom India).

The addition of the Kia Carens Clavis HTE (EX) variant enhances the Carens Clavis range, which now offers eight distinct trims in the ICE lineup. The new variant is available across all three engine options – standard 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel – but is offered exclusively with a manual transmission and in a 7-seater configuration.

What makes the HTE (EX) special is its feature list. The single-pane sunroof, previously reserved for higher trims, now becomes more affordable, lowering the entry point for this premium feature by more than ₹3 lakh compared to earlier variants. The cabin also gets automatic climate control, improving comfort on long journeys, alongside LED daytime running lights that enhance visibility and a refined interior ambience.

Inside, the new Kia Carens Clavis HTE (EX) build builds on the base HTE (O) equipment with an 8-inch infotainment system supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a six-speaker audio setup, and a rear parking camera for easier manoeuvring. Practical touches such as powered ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, one-touch up/down for the driver’s window, and a semi-digital instrument cluster add convenience for daily use.

The cabin retains the familiar beige-and-black theme seen in the lower trims, and while the HTE (EX) adds more tech and comfort gear, it continues with auto-projector halogen headlights instead of full LED units. Safety equipment includes six airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, rear parking sensors, disc brakes on all four wheels, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ensuring solid occupant protection and peace of mind.
On the mechanical front, the Kia Carens Clavis HTE (EX) sticks to the proven Carens Clavis setup with multiple engine options tailored to diverse buyer needs. The naturally aspirated petrol, turbo-petrol, and diesel engines pair with a manual gearbox, keeping the driving experience engaging and efficient for Indian family buyers.
