Kia India recalled 1,138 EV6 units due to a problem with the charging control unit

Kia India recently shared that they are calling back 1,138 EV6 SUVs produced from March 3, 2022, to April 14, 2023.

Kia India is calling back 1,138 EV6 cars. If you have one made between March 3, 2022, and April 14, 2023, your car might have a problem with the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). This problem might affect your 12V extra battery, which could make it lose power while you’re driving, leading to a complete loss of driving power.

Yet, the company mentioned that a software problem can fix this issue and will get in touch with you directly for a solution. You can also contact customer service or visit your closest dealer for a complimentary fuse inspection and replacement if necessary. Moreover, the software update is also provided at no extra cost.

Over in India, there’s a recall happening involving 1,138 SUV models. This recall is actually part of a larger global recall that was announced earlier this year. In the United States, a bit over 48,000 EV6 models were also recalled due to the same issue.

Recently, Hyundai India called back the Ioniq 5 EV in India due to an issue with the ICCU. Around 1,744 units made between July 21, 2022, and April 30, 2024, were part of this recall. The EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 have similar foundations, but the EV6 is fully imported to India, whereas the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is put together locally.

The Kia Ev6 price in India starts from Rs. 60.97 – 65.97 Lakh, it comes in India as a CBU model in two versions: GT Line and GT Line AWD. They both use the same 77.4kWh battery. The GT Line offers 226bhp, while the GT Line AWD delivers a powerful 321bhp and The Kia EV6 range is 708 km/charge.
