Lotus Emeya 102kWh Battery Promises Long-Range Driving with 610km WLTP

Lotus has recently launched its second electric car, the Lotus Emeya, in India. With ex-showroom prices starting at Rs 2.34 crore for the base Standard variant, the Emeya is positioned below the Eletre SUV and is part of Lotus’s ambitious plan to go all-electric by 2028.

Lotus Emeya Design

The Lotus Emeya design features a short front section that merges into a high-deck tail, with headlights housed in the bumper and four LED daytime running lights. The bumper vents come with active-aero technology, and the car also features an air curtain that drops down from the base of the bumper.

The Emeya’s wheel arches frame 20-inch to 22-inch alloy wheels, and carbon fiber elements are incorporated into the design, reflecting Lotus’s racing heritage. The sloping roofline melds with a large rear spoiler that opens in three stages, and the car has a horizontal light bar. The drag coefficient is a claimed 0.21 with the standard wheels.

Lotus Emeya Interior and Features

Inside, the Emeya’s dashboard is borrowed from the Eletre but features different lighting and materials to set it apart. The interior includes Alcantara and leather, with knurled metal on all touchpoints. Buyers can also opt for vegan upholstery. The seats come with five massage modes, and there’s a 55-inch head-up display (HUD), a KEF audio system with Uni-Q speakers, a Uni-Core subwoofer, and Dolby Atmos 3D surround sound.

The octagonal steering wheel is accompanied by an 8-inch driver’s display, while the 15.1-inch central touchscreen controls various functions, including the direction of the AC vents. The co-passenger gets a small screen above the glove box. The Emeya also features an electrochromic glass roof that can switch from opaque to transparent.

As an electric vehicle, the Emeya offers a 31-litre frunk and a 509-litre boot. It also comes with a 360-degree camera and a Level 4-capable Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite, which allows for hands and eyes off the road when regulations permit.

Lotus Emeya Powertrain and Performance

The Emeya is available in three variants: Standard, S, and R. All variants come with dual motors for all-wheel drive (AWD). The Standard and S variants boast 600hp and 710Nm of torque, allowing them to accelerate from 0-100kph in 4.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 250kph. The range-topping Emeya R is the most powerful, with 905hp and 985Nm of torque. It can sprint from 0-100kph in just 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 256kph.

All three variants are equipped with a 102kWh lithium-ion battery pack and an 800V architecture. With a 350kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10-80 percent in just 18 minutes. Using a 22kWh AC wall charger, the charging time is 5.5 hours. The WLTP range for the Standard variant is 610km, while the S and R variants offer ranges of 540km and 435km, respectively.
