Mahindra Auto December 2024 Sales Surge: 70% Growth in Exports

Mahindra Auto, a top SUV and commercial vehicle maker in India, finished 2024 with impressive sales numbers. The company saw significant year-on-year growth in both passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles, reinforcing its strong position in the Indian automotive industry.

In December 2024, Mahindra sold 41,424 passenger vehicles, which is an 18% increase from the 35,174 units sold in December 2023. This means an additional 6,253 units sold. For the entire year, Mahindra sold 402,360 passenger vehicles, representing a 21% increase. The company has shifted entirely to SUVs, which now make up all its passenger vehicle sales in India. Popular models like the Thar Roxx, Scorpio, and XUV700 are key contributors to this sales growth.

Mahindra Commercial Vehicle Sales

The commercial vehicle sector also performed well in December 2024, with Mahindra Auto selling 25,252 units in India. Light commercial vehicles in the 2T to 3.5T category sold 16,139 units, reflecting a strong 16% year-on-year growth. In contrast, sales of light commercial vehicles under 2T and those over 3.5T saw declines, with 2,409 and 954 units sold, respectively.

Mahindra Auto Export Growth

Mahindra’s export figures were another highlight for December 2024. The company exported 3,092 units, marking a significant 70% growth compared to 1,819 units in December 2023. For the year to date, exports grew by 22%, totaling 24,101 units.

Veejay Nakra, President of Mahindra’s Automotive Division, stated that the company ended the year with strong sales. “We sold 41,424 SUVs, an 18 percent increase, and 69,768 total vehicles, a 16 percent rise in December.” He mentioned that Mahindra became the only Indian auto company to achieve the Dow Jones Sustainability Index world leader status in the auto sector. This ranking is a respected global measure for environmental, social, and governance performance, where Mahindra ranked first among all global auto manufacturers.
