Mahindra BE 6e to Launch as Mahindra BE 6, Dropping the ‘e’ From Its Name
Due to a lawsuit by Interglobe Aviation Ltd in the Delhi High Court, Mahindra had to change the name of its new electric coupe-SUV. Originally called the BE 6e, it is now known as Mahindra BE 6. Mahindra released a firm statement on December 7, stating that they will challenge the lawsuit. They believe that allowing it to go unopposed could establish a negative trend of monopolizing short alphanumeric marks.
Indigo took legal action against Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited (MEAL) because they were not happy about Mahindra using the name BE 6e for their latest electric coupe-SUV, which was unveiled globally in late November. Indigo uses 6E as its aviation call sign and has rights to the 6E name for various purposes.

According to the Mahindra company, they’ve officially registered the trademark BE 6e under Class 12, a different section from where InterGlobe Aviation Limited (the operator of IndiGo Airlines) has registered the 6e name. It’s worth noting that Mahindra’s trademark is specifically for “BE 6e,” not just “6E” on its own.
For now, the brand-new electric SUV will be available for purchase as the BE 6 model, pending the resolution of the disagreement between Mahindra and InterGlobe. The BE 6 relies on Mahindra’s special INGLO EV framework and will offer two battery choices – 59 kWh and 79 kWh – when it hits the market. The initial cost for the BE 6e begins at Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The price does not include the charger, which you will need to purchase separately. Prices for more advanced versions will be disclosed at a later date.
