This SUV has been one of the most eagerly awaited launches of the year, garnering an incredibly positive reception. The 5-door Thar comes in two options: rear-wheel and four-wheel drive. Bookings for this sturdy SUV with a strong frame kicked off recently and quickly reached 1.76 lakh units within just one hour.
The Thar Roxx deliveries have started, but it looks like many customers are facing long waiting times to receive their vehicles. Recent information reveals that those looking to book the Thar Roxx might have to wait up to eighteen months to take it home. So, if you book the Roxx today, you might not get your hands on it until 2026.

Mahindra Thar Roxx Deliveries, Waiting Period
As mentioned before, Thar Roxx deliveries have started all over India. However, dealers are indicating that mainly the AX5, AX7L, and MX5 models with manual gearboxes are the ones being delivered. For those interested in these versions, there’s a waiting period estimated to be from late 2024 to early 2025. If you’ve chosen the Thar Roxx 4WD with the ivory interior, you might expect your delivery around early to mid-2025.
If you chose the Thar Roxx 4WD with the trendy mocha brown interior or went for the higher versions of the 2WD model, particularly with an automatic gearbox, your estimated delivery could range from mid-2025 to May 2026. This suggests that for certain models, you might face a waiting time of up to 18 months.

Mahindra is letting customers know about estimated delivery times. Dealers may not get this info right away. To make sure things go well, Mahindra wants you to pass on your delivery timeline to your dealer.
Once you provide the information, the dealership will get in touch with Mahindra to make sure your delivery is on track. If you haven’t given a timeline, the dealership will wait for Mahindra to reach out officially. Once they do, the dealership will inform you and wait for your reply. If you don’t respond within about a week, the vehicle might be assigned to the next customer waiting in line.
Thar Roxx is set to increase its production capacity to 7,500 units per month by November. It’s unclear if Mahindra has considered this boost when sharing delivery timelines. Still, you can anticipate a drop in the waiting period as they deliver more units.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Powertrain
The Thar Roxx 4×4 is equipped with a powerful 2.2-liter diesel engine. In its most powerful configuration, this engine produces 150 bhp and 330 Nm of torque when matched with the 6-speed manual transmission. If you opt for the 6-speed automatic transmission, you get even more power with 172 bhp and 370 Nm of torque.
You can also get the Mahindra Thar Roxx 2WD model with a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine. It delivers 162hp and 330Nm of torque with the manual transmission, and 177hp and 380Nm when paired with the automatic. These engines come with a 6-speed manual gearbox and the option to upgrade to a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
