Mahindra XEV 9S launched at Rs 19.95 lakh as India’s first mass-market 3-row electric SUV, with up to 79kWh battery, triple screens and INGLO platform.
Mahindra has introduced the all-new XEV 9S in India with introductory prices starting at Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as the first mass-market three-row electric SUV, the Mahindra XEV 9S is built on Mahindra’s INGLO born-EV platform and slots below the XEV 9e, undercutting it by Rs 1.95 lakh at the entry point. With seating for seven, multiple battery options and a tech-rich cabin, this new Mahindra EV is clearly aimed at family buyers ready to move to electric without compromising on space or performance.

Design, dimensions and practicality
Styling of the Mahindra XEV 9S takes inspiration from the XEV 9e and the XUV.e8 concept, but the overall execution is cleaner and more conventional than the radical BE range. The closed grille, connected LED DRLs, triangular headlamps and a long, flat bonnet give it a robust SUV stance. A substantial 2,762mm wheelbase with generous front and rear overhangs helps maximise cabin and luggage room, while the upright rear end with smoked LED tail-lamps keeps the design simple and functional.
In terms of size, the XEV 9S is marginally larger than the XEV 9e and offers strong everyday practicality. Ground clearance is rated at 219mm and height at 1,745mm, making it suitable for Indian road conditions. With the third row folded, Mahindra claims 527 litres of boot space, and the additional 150-litre frunk further boosts its luggage-carrying ability.

Tech-heavy cabin and features
Inside, the XEV 9S borrows the triple-screen layout from Mahindra’s BE models. A full-width digital panel integrates the instrument cluster and central infotainment display, while two additional screens are mounted on the front seatbacks for second-row passengers. Higher trims also benefit from an augmented reality head-up display.
All variants get sliding and reclining second-row seats, an openable panoramic sunroof, and access to the frunk. Depending on the trim, buyers also get Boss mode for front seat adjustment from the rear, Bring-Your-Own-Device connectivity features, and an extensive ADAS suite with auto parking and a drowsiness detection function. Premium touches include a Harman Kardon audio system, multi-colour ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control and leatherette upholstery.

Battery options, performance and pricing
Mahindra offers the XEV 9S with three battery pack choices – 59kWh, 70kWh and 79kWh – all supporting DC fast charging up to 175kW. The entry-level Pack One Above variant can be had with either the 59kWh or 79kWh battery, both driving the rear wheels, with the larger-battery version priced at Rs 21.95 lakh. The mid-spec Pack Two Above introduces the new 70kWh battery at Rs 24.45 lakh, while the 79kWh option in this trim costs Rs 25.45 lakh. The range-topping Pack Three is offered solely with the 79kWh pack at Rs 27.35 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
Mahindra claims a 0-100kph time of 7 seconds for the more powerful versions, while the 59kWh variants do the sprint in a claimed 7.7 seconds. Top speed is rated at 202kph. Buyers can also opt for 7.2kW and 11.2kW home chargers at an additional cost of Rs 50,000 and Rs 75,000, respectively.
