Maruti e Vitara bags a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating with top adult and child protection scores, boosting confidence in India’s new electric SUV.
Maruti Suzuki’s first mainstream electric SUV, the Maruti e Vitara, has cleared a crucial acid test even before reaching showrooms. The upcoming EV has secured a full 5-star crash safety rating from Bharat NCAP, instantly pushing it into the league of India’s safest mass-market electric SUVs.

In the latest round of tests, the Maruti e Vitara scored 31.49 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection and 43 out of 49 points for child safety – numbers that put it right at the top of the crash-safety charts for family EVs in India. Before this, the SUV had already gone through Euro NCAP testing in September 2025, and now Bharat NCAP’s result reinforces that the made-in-India e Vitara isn’t just about range and features; it’s serious about safety too.

Under the skin, the e Vitara uses a dedicated EV architecture designed to improve crash energy management and battery protection, while also freeing up cabin space with a flat floor. Safety kit is generous too: variants are equipped with seven airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera and a Level-2 ADAS suite with active driver assistance functions. Combined with an ARAI-certified range of up to 543km on versions using the larger 61kWh battery pack, the e Vitara is positioning itself as a long-range, high-safety option for Indian EV buyers.
Maruti is also backing the SUV with an ecosystem push – a rapidly expanding national charging network and Battery-as-a-Service subscription options aimed at lowering upfront ownership costs and easing range anxiety for first-time EV buyers. With sales set to begin in early 2026.
