Maruti Suzuki Baleno & Ertiga Now Offer 6 Airbags as Standard

Maruti Suzuki hikes prices of Baleno & Ertiga from July 16, 2025, due to added airbags. Baleno sees a 0.5% rise, while Ertiga becomes costlier by up to 1.4%.

Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading car manufacturer, has taken a significant step toward enhancing passenger safety by upgrading two of its most popular models—the Baleno and Ertiga—with six airbags as standard. This move aligns with the brand’s broader commitment to safety and regulatory compliance, especially in light of evolving crash test norms and consumer expectations.

Baleno & Ertiga now come with 6 airbags in all versions, replacing the earlier dual-airbag setup in the base models. This change aligns both vehicles with international safety rules and Bharat NCAP standards. The update is similar to recent upgrades seen in models like the Alto K10, Eeco, Brezza, Celerio, and Wagon R.

Price Hike Breakdown

The Baleno’s starting price was ₹6.70 lakh. Now, it could go up by around ₹33,500, a rise of about 0.5%. Similarly, the Ertiga’s price has increased from ₹8.96 lakh by as much as ₹1.25 lakh. This change reflects roughly a 1.4% increase. These prices are before taxes and became effective on July 16, 2025.

While most of Maruti’s lineup is now equipped with six airbags, a few models are yet to receive the upgrade: S-Presso, Ignis, Fronx, XL6, and Ciaz, According to a senior Maruti Suzuki official, “97% of our passenger car portfolio will feature six airbags as standard,” indicating that models like XL6 and Fronx—based on Ertiga and Baleno platforms—may be next in line.
