Maruti Suzuki has recently reduced the prices of its Alto K10 and S-Presso models to meet the rising demand for small cars.
Due to a decrease in the demand for cars in the country, Maruti Suzuki has adopted a new strategy to attract customers. The company is moving forward by reducing the prices of the Alto K10 and S-Presso cars to appeal to customers. This price reduction will come into effect starting Monday. According to the Maruti exchange filing, the price of the S-Presso LXI petrol model has been decreased by 2000 rupees, and the Alto K10 VXI petrol model has been reduced by 6500 rupees.
The Alto K-10 price is now at 3.99 lakhs (Ex-Showroom), while the S-Presso car starts at 4.26 lakhs(Ex-Showroom). The company recently revealed its sales figures, showing a slight increase in car sales compared to August 2023. By selling 1.82 lakh units, they have recorded significant growth on a monthly basis.

Maruti Suzuki experienced an 8% decrease in total sales in August. Even with strong demand for popular models like Brezza, Baleno, and Ertiga, there was a drop in compact car sales. This decline affected the overall sales of car manufacturers in August. Specifically, models like Alto K10 and S-Presso saw a decrease of 10,648 units compared to the previous year, resulting in an 18% decline. This decrease had a negative impact on the company’s overall sales performance.

Maruti Suzuki has been facing challenges in selling its small cars from the beginning of 2023. The company’s recent sales data from April to August 2024 shows a 13% drop compared to the same period last year for mini and compact car sales. Surprisingly, the utility vehicles segment has seen a 14% increase.

During the 43rd annual meeting of Maruti Suzuki, R.C. Bhargava mentioned that the company is committed to continuing the production of small cars. He expressed optimism that by 2025-26, this sector would see further improvement. Bhargava pointed out that there is a growing demand for affordable small cars in our country, both economically and socially. He emphasized that recent trends show a decrease in demand temporarily, but it will not alter our current plan.
