Mercedes-Benz G 450d Launched in India at Rs 2.90 Crore

Mercedes-Benz G 450d Launched at ₹2.90 Cr — a diesel, mild-hybrid G-Class with 362 bhp, 48V ISG, luxe cabin and true off-road hardware.

Mercedes-Benz India has added a diesel chapter to its G-Class lineup with the new Mercedes-Benz G 450d, priced at ₹2.90 crore. The model brings a 3.0-litre inline-six diesel paired with a 48V Integrated Starter Generator (ISG), delivering a stronger, more efficient alternative to the petrol and electric G variants available in the market today.

Under the skin the G 450d is unmistakably a G-Class: ladder-frame chassis, three locking differentials and a rugged suspension setup that includes an independent front arrangement and a rigid rear axle. Adaptive dampers come standard, keeping the SUV comfortable on tarmac while preserving the G’s exceptional off-road capability. Mercedes claims class-leading diesel performance, and the mild-hybrid ISG adds up to 20 bhp of electric support for brisk low-speed response.

Performance figures underline the G 450d’s capabilities — 362 bhp and 750 Nm of torque, a 0–100 km/h sprint in about 5.8 seconds and a top speed near 210 km/h. Off-road metrics remain serious: 241 mm of ground clearance, a fording depth of 70 cm and stability ratings that reflect the model’s go-anywhere DNA. Those numbers reinforce this G-Class as a true dual-purpose SUV: luxury on the road, confidence off it.

Visually the updates are subtle but purposeful. The Mercedes-Benz G 450d carries minor exterior tweaks aimed at aerodynamics and cabin refinement — a reworked front bumper with vertical louvres, revised A-pillar cladding and a roof-edge spoiler lip. It rides on 20-inch AMG alloys finished in high-gloss black, maintaining the iconic boxy silhouette while sharpening presence.

Inside, Mercedes outfits the G 450d with its latest MBUX NTG7 system displayed across dual 12.3-inch screens, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and USB-C ports. Luxury appointments include Nappa leather, a Burmester 3D audio system, multi-contour seats with energizing functions and an expanded off-road display that shows steering angle, altitude, tyre pressures and differential lock status — plus a Transparent Hood view to help when terrain gets tricky.
