The new Mini Cooper S has a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine and an evolutionary design
Mini has just launched the newest Cooper S hatchback in India, starting at Rs 44.90 lakh (ex-showroom), and deliveries starting in September. This 3-Door hatchback comes in the hot Cooper S-spec with a petrol engine, brought into India as a CBU. This latest model, the fourth generation, is the final combustion-engine version of the beloved hatch, keeping the design spirit of the original 1959 model.
Mini Cooper S Exterior
The new Cooper S 3-Door has a fresh appearance. It keeps the traditional appeal of earlier versions but features smoother contours. The hatch has been revamped with round headlights now frameless, a larger octagonal front grille, and new triangular brake lights on the rear. Instead of chrome, the exterior features plastic cladding on the wheel arches.
The upcoming MINI Cooper S will come in ten color options such as Melting Silver, Midnight Black, Nanuq White, British Racing Green, Chili Red II, Indigo Sunset Blue, Blazing Blue, Icy Sunshine Blue, Ocean Wave Green, and Sunny Side Yellow. You can also get the roof in the same color if you’d like. For the ‘Classic’ Pack, you have the extra options of Glazed White or Jet Black for the roof.
You can get 17-inch wheels with U-Spoke Spectre Grey or Parallel Spoke 2-Tone alloys as a standard option. The Favoured Pack includes 17-inch U-Spoke Vibrant Silver wheels and 18-inch wheels with Slide Spoke 2-Tone or Night Flash Spoke 2-Tone alloys for a more customized look.
Mini Cooper S Interior
In the interior, you’ll find a blend of simple design and modern technology including a heads-up display, and a high-resolution 9.4-inch Circular OLED touchscreen display. The latest MINI Operating System 9 introduces touchscreen and voice control features to boost connectivity. With the MINI Digital Key Plus, your smartphone can now double up as your car key through the MINI App.
Some of the other notable features are, seats in the front that can be adjusted electronically, a massage feature for the driver’s seat, soft interior lighting, a top-quality sound system by Harman Kardon, technology that keeps your car connected, six airbags for safety, a Level 1 safety system to help you on the road, and an electronic parking brake.
Mini Cooper S powertrain
The hatchback still runs on a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, but now it delivers more power at 204hp and 300Nm compared to the previous 178hp and 280Nm. The engine works together with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, powering the front wheels without paddle shifters for manual gear changes. Mini states that the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 6.6 seconds.
