Nissan Magnite secures a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating after multiple crash tests.
In a major stride for automotive safety, Nissan’s compact SUV—Magnite—has achieved an exceptional 5-star safety rating in the latest round of Global NCAP crash tests. Manufactured at Nissan’s India plant, this marks a significant leap in its safety standards, particularly benefiting domestic buyers and export markets like South Africa.

Technical Highlights
Pre-Facelift Model: Scored 24.49/34 in adult occupancy. Safety shortcomings included weak chest protection and marginal knee protection.
Facelift Version: Improved scores in side impact and frontal tests, introducing standard ESC, six airbags, and ISOFIX mounts.
5-Star Upgrade: Achieved 32.31/34 in adult safety. Significant gains in frontal crash test (15.3/16), with good to adequate protection for both driver and passenger.

Child Safety Upgrade
The facelift model still received a 4-star rating for child safety, but there were clear signs of improvement. The CRS installation score reached a perfect 12 out of 12. The dynamic score increased to 20 out of 24. Tests showed better head and chest protection for both 3-year-old and 18-month-old crash dummies.

In terms of safety, the car now comes equipped with auto headlamps, an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, and a 360-degree around-view monitor (AVM). six airbags, hill start assist, cruise control, traction control, a cluster ionizer, ABS with EBD, an electronic stability program (ESP), auto headlamps, vehicle stability management, ESC, three-point seatbelts, and seatbelt reminders for all seats as standard.
