Range Rover Electric Launch Delayed to 2026

Range Rover Electric has been pushed back to 2026. It will feature a 117 kWh battery, producing 550 Hp and 851 Nm of torque.

Jaguar Land Rover will debut the Range Rover Electric globally in 2026, not 2025 as they initially planned. The delay is due to longer testing times and changing market conditions. This shows JLR’s focus on creating a high-performance luxury electric vehicle that meets global demand. Already, over 61,000 customers have signed up, with more than 16,000 registering in the first week of February 2024.

Range Rover Electric: Battery & Performance

The Range Rover Electric boasts a massive 117 kWh battery pack, one of the largest ever offered in a production EV. This battery not only provides ample power but also showcases efficient cell-to-pack construction with 344 prismatic cells arranged in a two-tier layout. While the official range figure is yet to be disclosed, industry experts speculate an approximate range of 500 kilometers on a single charge.

Equipped with an 800-volt electric architecture, the vehicle supports ultra-fast charging up to 350 kW, ensuring reduced downtime for charging. Complementing this advanced battery system is a dual-motor powertrain setup, which delivers a remarkable combined output of approximately 550 bhp and 851 Nm of torque. This setup ensures a smooth and powerful driving experience, with motors placed on each axle for enhanced performance and stability.

For Indian consumers, the postponement might mean extended waiting periods, but it also offers a chance for improved specifications in the final product — particularly suited for luxury buyers in metro markets. Meanwhile, in the U.S., where premium SUV demand remains strong, Range Rover’s electric entry is poised to challenge competitors like Rivian and Cadillac Lyriq.
