The New Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650: Fifth Model in the 650 Twin Line-Up, Price Announcement Soon
The Royal Enfield Bear 650 is an exciting new model inspired by the popular 650cc platform. It introduces fresh features and high-quality parts. Unlike the Interceptor 650, the Bear has distinctive modifications that make it stand out. Royal Enfield plans to reveal the Bear 650’s prices at the EICMA 2024 event on November 5.
Royal Enfield Bear 650: Design, Hardware
The latest model from Royal Enfield, the Bear 650, shares its chassis with the Interceptor 650. However, it boasts changes in suspension and wheel sizes. The front and rear wheels have transitioned from 18-inch/18-inch to 19-inch/17-inch, aligning more with a scrambler bike style. Moreover, the suspension has seen improvements, featuring a Showa USD fork akin to the Shotgun model, but with distinct internals. Also, the rear now sports new dual shock absorbers.

The suspension travel on the Interceptor has been boosted from 110mm/88mm to 130mm/115mm. This change has led to an increase in seat height, now standing at 830mm, making it the tallest among the 650s. The new Bear 650 model introduces MRF Nylorex block pattern tires on spoked wheels, with no tubeless version available.
The front brake disc is like the one on the Interceptor, and both measure 320mm. On the other hand, the rear disc on the Bear 650 has increased in size from 240mm to 270mm. The Bear 650 comes with dual-channel ABS that you can turn off for the rear. They’ve made changes to the ergonomics too, by introducing a broader handlebar and adjusting the footpeg position.

The Bear 650 stands out in its design thanks to its fresh wheel sizes and a raised scrambler-style seat that angles slightly upwards at the back. It features round LED head and tail lamps like other Royal Enfield models, along with new LED turn signals. To enhance its scrambler look, you’ll notice competition number plates on the side panels and a higher ground clearance of 184mm.
The bike now features an updated circular TFT display from the Guerrilla and Himalayan models, replacing the basic dual pod instrument console found in the Interceptor 650. This new display comes with Google Maps support and is operated using fresh switchgear. You can choose the Royal Enfield Bear 650 from a selection of five vibrant colors.

Royal Enfield Bear 650: Engine
The engine of the Royal Enfield Bear 650 is just like other 650cc models. But, there’s a big improvement: it now has a two-into-one system with a single exhaust on the right side instead of two exhaust pipes. This change boosts the torque from 52Nm to 56.5Nm, all while keeping the same 5150rpm. However, the power output stays the same at 47bhp at 7,250rpm. The engine is still connected to a six-speed gearbox, just like it was before. However, the Bear 650’s final gearing is a bit taller because it has a smaller rear sprocket than the Interceptor 650.
