Royal Enfield Scram 411 Discontinued in India: Adventure Bike Era Ends

Royal Enfield Scram 440 Launches with a Bigger Engine, Replacing the Scram 411

In a significant move, Royal Enfield has officially discontinued the Royal Enfield Scram 411 in India. This decision comes three years after the motorcycle was first launched in March 2022. The Scram 411, which was based on the older Himalayan 411, has now made way for the newly launched Scram 440, which promises to address the shortcomings of its predecessor.

The Journey of the Scram 411

The Royal Enfield Scram 411 was introduced as a more accessible and lighter alternative to the Himalayan 411. Built on the same chassis, the Scram 411 featured lesser bodywork and smaller wheels, making it easier for a wider range of riders to handle. The bike was equipped with a 411 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produced 24.3 bhp at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm of peak torque at 4,250 rpm. It also came with a 5-speed gearbox and an analogue instrument console with a digital readout, while the tripper navigation screen was an optional extra.

The Arrival of the Scram 440

The discontinuation of the Scram 411 is a result of the launch of the Scram 440, which is essentially an upgraded version of the former. The new Scram 440 boasts a bigger 440 cc motor, which is based on the same engine as the Scram 411 but with more power. Additionally, the Scram 440 features a sixth gear for better highway rideability and is available with alloy wheels alongside wire-spoked units.

Royal Enfield Scram 440 Pricing and Availability

The Royal Enfield Scram 440 is priced between Rs 2.08 lakh and Rs 2.15 lakh (ex-showroom), which is in the same price range as the Scram 411, which was priced between Rs 2.06 lakh and Rs 2.12 lakh (ex-showroom) before being discontinued. The company has delisted the Scram 411 from its website, and dealers have stopped accepting bookings for the same.

The Royal Enfield Scram 411 may have been discontinued, but its legacy lives on through the Scram 440. With its improved features and performance, the Scram 440 is set to continue the journey that the Scram 411 started, offering riders a versatile and capable motorcycle for both city commuting and light off-roading.
