Skoda Auto India has initiated mass production of its new Kylaq subcompact SUV at its Chakan, Pune facility. This latest model, the fifth to utilize the MQB A0 IN platform, joins the Skoda Kushaq, Slavia, Volkswagen Taigun, and Virtus in sharing this underpinning. Produced locally for both domestic and international markets, the Skoda Kylaq prioritizes safety, comfort, quality, and a globally inspired design.

To meet the anticipated surge in demand for its subcompact SUV, Skoda has increased the production capacity of its Chakan plant by 30%. This expansion now allows the plant to produce 255,000 units annually. This capacity boost follows the September announcement of Skoda-VW India’s additional Rs 15,000 crore investment in the Chakan facility. This investment will be used to expand production and develop future models, including both internal combustion and all-electric vehicles.

Skoda Kylaq Price and Powertrain

The new Skoda Kylaq subcompact SUV has received 10,000 bookings just 10 days after orders opened. It is the smallest vehicle in Skoda’s range and is priced between Rs. 8 lakh and Rs. 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom, India). This SUV is the most affordable option from the brand so far. Test drives will be available starting January 27, 2025, which is also when deliveries will begin.

When it comes to the engine, the Kylaq is powered by the well-known VW Group 1.0-liter TSI turbo-petrol engine that Skoda and VW use in India.
