Triumph Thruxton 400 launched. Explore its café racer styling, performance upgrades, and unique features—a bold new entry in the 400cc segment.
Triumph Motorcycles has officially launched the much-anticipated Triumph Thruxton 400 in India, priced at Rs 2.74 lakh (ex-showroom). As the fifth model born from the Bajaj-Triumph alliance, this café racer blends retro aesthetics with modern engineering, offering a unique proposition in the sub-400cc segment.

Design & Styling: Classic Café Racer Reimagined
The Thruxton 400 takes cues from Triumph’s famous Thruxton line. This series is famous for its cafe racer spirit. These include a half fairing and clip-on bars. Bar-end mirrors and a separate brake fluid cap add a high-end feel. Black upside-down forks replace the gold ones on the Speed 400.
New side panels feature brushed metal and Thruxton logos. It has a solo seat. A cover can be removed to show a passenger seat. The tail light is now rectangular, unlike the Speed 400’s round light. A slightly changed 13-liter fuel tank has a new Triumph emblem. Choose from four vibrant colors. Options include red, yellow, black, and white. Every version has a diagonal stripe.

Triumph updated the bike’s layout in small but key ways. The suspension now has 140mm of travel, an increase of 10mm. Its wheelbase is now 1,376mm, which is 10mm shorter. Ground clearance decreased to 158mm, down 7mm. The seat height is 795mm for easier access. The total weight is 183kg, 4kg more than the Speed 400.

Engine & Performance
The Thruxton 400 features a revised 398cc engine. This liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor produces 42 horsepower. That’s 2 more horses than before. It delivers power at 9,000 rpm. Torque remains steady at 37.5Nm. A six-speed gearbox is standard. It includes a slipper clutch. Expect a quicker throttle response. This setup boosts sporty riding.

Features & Safety
The Thruxton 400 shares equipment with the Speed 400. This includes its display that shows both analog and digital info. A vertical tachometer is also present. You’ll find a gear position indicator. Dual-channel ABS and traction control are standard. Riders can choose between MRF or Apollo tires. Both tire types meet performance standards.
