TVS Jupiter Celebrates 7 Million Units Sold: A Major Milestone in the Scooter Industry
The TVS Jupiter has become a household name in India, and it is celebrated for its reliability, performance, and innovation. As of January 2025, the Jupiter has crossed the remarkable milestone of 7 million units sold in the domestic market. This blog post explores the journey of the TVS Jupiter, its variants, and the factors contributing to its success.

The Journey to 7 Million Units
Launched initially as a 110cc model, the TVS Jupiter quickly gained popularity. The introduction of the 125cc variant further boosted its appeal. By the end of November 2024, the combined sales of the 110cc and 125cc models accounted for 62% of TVS Motor Co’s total scooter sales.

The TVS Jupiter has consistently been the bestselling scooter for TVS Motor Co. In FY2024, it achieved its best fiscal year performance with 844,863 units sold, surpassing its previous best of 810,916 units in FY2018. Jupiter’s success is evident in its performance in the first nine months of the ongoing fiscal year, with 701,360 units dispatched to showrooms across India.
The TVS Jupiter has reached several significant milestones since its launch:
- May 14, 2015: Crossed the 500,000 unit sales mark.
- June 13, 2016: Reached 1 million units.
- September 26, 2017: Surpassed 2 million units.
- Early FY2021: Achieved 4 million units.
- June 2022: Hit the 5 million mark.
- October 2023: Reached 6 million units.
- January 2025: Crossed 7 million units.

TVS has continuously introduced new variants and upgrades to keep the Jupiter fresh and appealing. The introduction of the Jupiter 125 in October 2021, with industry-first features like the largest under-seat storage, has been a significant growth driver. In August 2024, TVS launched the new Jupiter 110 with new styling and advanced features.
Market Share and Competition
Jupiter has played a crucial role in increasing TVS’s market share in the Indian scooter market. From 12.68% in FY2014, TVS’s scooter market share grew to 25% by FY2024, thanks to the combined success of the Jupiter and the NTorq 125. The Jupiter remains a strong competitor to India’s bestselling scooter, the Honda Activa.
Looking ahead, TVS Motor Co. plans to introduce a CNG variant of Jupiter, making it the first ground-up CNG scooter manufacturer worldwide. This new variant is expected to launch in the first half of 2025.
