Volkswagen India introduces the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line in India with a potent 2.0-litre engine, premium features, AWD and seven-seat practicality.
Volkswagen India has officially introduced the Tayron R-Line, marking a significant shift in its SUV lineup as the brand’s new flagship offering. Built to attract buyers seeking a premium German-engineered SUV with space, performance, and technology, the Tayron R-Line occupies a spot above the Tiguan R-Line and aims to compete with established rivals in the large SUV segment.

At the heart of the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line is a robust 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine that delivers around 201 bhp and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission and Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system as standard – a combination that promises confident performance in diverse driving conditions.
From the exterior, the Tayron R-Line showcases an athletic and upscale design. It sports R-Line-specific bumpers, a distinctive grille with badging, and 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The SUV also features HD Matrix LED headlamps with dynamic cornering, an illuminated Volkswagen logo at both ends, and modern LED tail lamps with a variable lighting signature, setting it apart in the premium SUV space.

Inside, the centrepiece is a large 15-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats with memory and massage functions, three-zone climate control, and 30-colour ambient lighting. A panoramic sunroof and a Harman Kardon sound system with 11 speakers. One of the key selling points of the Tayron R-Line is its seven-seat layout, making it an attractive choice for families and buyers who need practicality without compromising on luxury or performance.
Safety and driver assistance have also been given priority, with Volkswagen equipping the Tayron R-Line with a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite. This includes features like 360-degree cameras, Park Assist Plus, and a comprehensive airbag setup that even includes a central airbag to enhance occupant protection.
