Yamaha India launches the neo-retro Yamaha XSR155 in India at Rs 1.50 lakh — 155cc engine, dual ABS, traction control and classic styling.
Yamaha Motor India has officially introduced the XSR155 to the Indian market, positioning it as the brand’s most affordable 155cc offering at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.50 lakh. The newcomer brings retro-inspired styling blended with modern mechanicals, and sits on the same underpinnings as the company’s R15 and MT-15 siblings.

The Yamaha XSR155 wears a neo-retro design language highlighted by a round LED headlamp, a teardrop fuel tank and a flat bench seat that gives it a classic silhouette. Underneath the skin, Yamaha’s Deltabox frame remains, paired with upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock — cycle parts familiar to R15 and MT-15 owners. The bike rides on 17-inch wheels and carries a kerb weight of 137 kg, a seat height of 810 mm and 120 mm of ground clearance. Fuel capacity is rated at 10 litres.

Powering the Yamaha XSR155 is the tried-and-tested 155cc liquid-cooled single that produces 18.1 bhp and 14 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox with an assist-and-slipper clutch for smoother shifts and reduced lever effort. Yamaha has equipped the model with dual-channel ABS and traction control for added safety in varying road conditions, while the instrument cluster is a functional LCD unit rather than a full-colour TFT.

Yamaha offers the XSR155 in a single variant with four colour schemes — silver, blue, green and red — each paired with contrasting trims to accentuate its retro cues. At Rs 1.50 lakh, it undercuts the base MT-15 by Rs 5,000 and is Rs 4,000 cheaper than the base R15, making it an attractive option for buyers seeking characterful styling without a premium price tag.
