Maruti Suzuki’s Grand Vitara hit an impressive milestone by selling over 200,000 units in just 22 months after its launch on September 26, 2022. By the close of June 2024, it had already sold 199,550 units. The remaining 450 units needed to reach the 200,000 mark were probably sold in early July 2024. This accomplishment sets a record for the Grand Vitara as the quickest midsize SUV to achieve this sales milestone.
The Grand Vitara set a new record for the fastest midsize SUV to reach this milestone, overtaking the Hyundai Creta’s previous record of 25 months. The Grand Vitara is priced between Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 19.93 lakh (ex-showroom).
This SUV is in demand at their Nexa dealerships. As of June 2024, Nexa had already sold more than 2.7 million vehicles. Out of these, the Vitara accounted for 199,550 units, representing about 7.35% of Nexa’s total sales. The SUV ranks third in popularity at Nexa, following the Baleno and Ignis models.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: Powertrain
The SUV gives you a choice between two types of engines: a 1.5-liter mild hybrid and a 1.5-liter strong hybrid. The mild hybrid offers 102bhp, while the strong hybrid provides 114.4bhp. The petrol strong-hybrid system not only has self-charging technology but also offers three driving modes: pure EV, hybrid, and petrol.
When it comes to the transmission, there are different options for the engine. The mild hybrid one can be matched with a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox. On the other hand, the strong hybrid engine only works with an e-CVT gearbox. If you prefer, you can go for the CNG choice. It includes a 1.5-liter mild-hybrid petrol engine that gives you 86.6bhp and 121.5Nm of torque.
