Mahindra XEV 9e Becomes the First Model to Achieve Full Marks in AOP by BNCA

The Mahindra XEV 9e has set a new benchmark in automotive safety by securing the highest-ever score in the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat-NCAP). This electric coupe SUV has earned a 5-star crash test rating, applicable to all its variants, making it the safest vehicle currently available in the Indian market.

Mahindra XEV 9e Adult and Child Safety Scores

The Mahindra XEV 9e did exceptionally well in safety tests. It got a perfect score of 32 out of 32 points in both the frontal and side-impact tests conducted by BNCAP. This makes it the first model to achieve such a high score for AOP. The protection for the driver and front passenger was rated ‘good’ in all aspects, including head, chest, pelvis, and legs. Additionally, the XEV 9e received a ‘good’ rating in the side pole impact test.

When we look at the XEV 9e’s safety ratings, the electric SUV performed very well. It got a full score in the dynamic test, perfect marks in the CRS installation evaluation, and a decent score in the vehicle assessment. This added up to an impressive total of 45 points out of 49. During the tests, they used child dummies representing an 18-month-old and a 3-year-old, placed in rear-facing child seats.

Mahindra XEV 9e Price and Safety Features

Bharat NCAP tested the highest-level Mahindra XEV 9e Pack Three model with the 79kWh battery, but the 5-star rating covers all four versions. Mahindra disclosed prices for the entry-level XEV 9e Pack One at Rs 21.90 lakh last year, and for the top-tier Pack Three at Rs 30.50 lakh recently. However, prices for the 59kWh Pack Two and Pack Three are yet to be revealed.

The Mahindra XEV 9e is equipped with a range of advanced safety features, including airbags, belt load limiters, pretensioners, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. The vehicle’s high-stiffness bodyshell, all-wheel disc brakes, brake-by-wire technology, brake booster, driver drowsiness detection, rear parking sensors with a camera, and low tyre pressure indication further enhance its safety credentials.
