The Porsche 911 GT3 has rewritten the record books, setting a remarkable lap time at the legendary Nürburgring circuit. This time, the feat was achieved not with Porsche’s sophisticated PDK automatic transmission but with a traditional six-speed manual gearbox, proving that pure driving enthusiasts still have a place in the modern performance landscape.

Piloted by former motorsports driver Jörg Bergmeister, the Porsche 911 GT3 manual completed the Nürburgring lap in 6 minutes and 56.294 seconds—shaving off an impressive 9.5 seconds from the previous record-holder, the Dodge Viper ACR. This is not just a personal best for the GT3 but a significant moment in manual transmission history. Notably, it was also 3.66 seconds faster than its predecessor, the 992.1 GT3 equipped with Porsche’s PDK transmission.
Porsche 911 GT3 Technical Prowess
The 911 GT3 houses a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine, delivering a thrilling 503 bhp and 450 Nm of torque, revving up to an exhilarating 9,000 rpm. While previous records were dominated by automatic transmissions, this manual variant proves that a skilled driver can extract extreme performance without relying on automated gear shifts.

The record-breaking GT3 was equipped with Porsche’s Weissach Package, which removes 12 kg of weight through the use of carbon fiber elements such as the roof, front lid, and rear wing.
