Yamaha Aerox E Unveiled: Electric Maxi-Scooter Promises 106 km Range

Yamaha Aerox E electric maxi-scooter Unveiled with a 106 km claimed range, detachable batteries and three ride modes — India launch early 2026.

Yamaha has taken the wraps off the Aerox E, an all-electric version of its sporty Aerox maxi-scooter, marking a significant push by the brand into India’s electric two-wheeler space. The Yamaha Aerox E keeps the aggressive styling of the petrol model but swaps the internal-combustion hardware for a performance-focused electric powertrain designed for urban and highway use.

At the heart of the Yamaha Aerox E is a 9.4–9.5 kW peak electric motor that produces around 48 Nm of torque, paired with two removable 1.5 kWh battery packs (3 kWh total) that use high-energy cells. Yamaha claims a certified range of 106 km on a full charge, and the batteries are designed for easy removal and home charging to suit city life. The scooter tips the scales at roughly 139 kg, about 13 kg heavier than the petrol Aerox due to the battery hardware.

The Yamaha Aerox E offers three ride modes — Eco, Standard and Power — plus a Boost function that delivers short bursts of extra acceleration for overtakes. Yamaha has also included practical features such as a reverse assist for tight parking, single-channel ABS, traction control and front and rear disc brakes to balance performance with everyday usability. Connectivity comes via a large colour TFT display with Bluetooth and turn-by-turn navigation, along with smart key functionality and app integration for remote vehicle information.

Design and ergonomics remain true to the Aerox’s “maxi sports” DNA: twin LED headlights, sharp bodywork and a sporty riding stance. Yamaha has tweaked ergonomics to suit the different weight distribution and riding character of an EV, though boot space has been reduced because of the redesigned rear section.
