Maruti Suzuki has recalled 39,506 Grand Vitara units in India due to an inaccurate fuel-level indicator; affected vehicles will get free inspection and replacement.
Maruti Suzuki has issued a voluntary recall of 39,506 units of the Grand Vitara sold in India after identifying a potential fault in the instrument cluster that can cause the fuel-level indicator and warning light to display incorrect information. The company said the affected vehicles were produced between 9 December 2024 and 29 April 2025.

According to regulatory filings and company communication reported by major auto outlets, the issue relates specifically to the speedometer assembly’s fuel gauge and associated warning lamp. If left unchecked, this could mislead drivers about the remaining fuel, increasing the risk of running out of fuel unexpectedly. Maruti Suzuki has described the recall as a precautionary measure.

Owners of affected Grand Vitara SUVs will be contacted by authorised Maruti Suzuki dealers and asked to bring their vehicles in for inspection. The company confirmed that the faulty component will be replaced free of charge at authorised workshops, and customers will not incur any cost for the rectification. Maruti Suzuki has urged owners to respond promptly to dealer communications to ensure safe operation.
If you own a Grand Vitara, check your email or SMS for communication from Maruti Suzuki or contact your dealer with the vehicle’s VIN for confirmation. Keeping software and instrument-cluster health in check is increasingly important as digital displays become central to modern cars; timely recalls and fixes help maintain trust in the brand and protect drivers on the road.
