Tata Motors has kicked off 2026 on an exceptionally strong note, posting its highest monthly passenger vehicle sales ever in January with more than 71,000 units sold across India and select export markets. The impressive performance reflects rising buyer confidence and strong demand for Tata’s SUV-centric lineup, particularly the Tata Nexon and Tata Punch.
January 2026 saw Tata Motors achieve total passenger vehicle sales of 71,066 units, marking a year-on-year growth of approximately 47 per cent compared with January 2025. This significant surge highlights not just market demand but Tata’s sustained momentum across multiple product segments.

Dominating the sales charts was the Tata Nexon, which delivered its best monthly performance to date with over 23,000 units sold in January. The compact SUV not only led Tata’s internal sales figures but also emerged as the best-selling SUV in India for the month, showcasing its strong appeal among Indian buyers.

Another standout performer for Tata Motors in January was the Tata Punch, which also recorded a career-best monthly run, contributing close to 19,000 units to the company’s overall tally. The Punch’s consistent appeal underscores the strength of Tata’s sub-compact SUV strategy, particularly in urban and semi-urban markets.

Highlighting Tata’s broader product strength, models like the Tiago hatchback hit significant cumulative sales milestones, while new and refreshed offerings such as the Tata Sierra, along with petrol variants of the Harrier and Safari, drew mainstream consumer interest through improved features and style enhancements.
Exports also contributed positively to the January figures, with Tata Motors seeing significant year-on-year growth in export volumes. Though exports remain a smaller slice of the total compared with domestic deliveries, their strong uptick reflects growing global demand for Tata’s passenger vehicles and expanding brand presence in overseas markets.
