2026 BMW R12 G/S Unveiled – A Modern Revival of the Iconic R80 G/S
BMW Motorrad has introduced its latest offering to the world of adventure and enduro motorcycles—the BMW R 12 G/S. This newly unveiled model is a modern tribute to the legendary BMW R 80 G/S from the 1980s, embodying a classic yet forward-thinking design philosophy. BMW R 12 G/S Design and Features
The R 12 G/S is built on the foundation of the R 12 nineT roadster but takes the off-road experience up a notch. Featuring a minimalist body design, the motorcycle showcases a compact cockpit fairing, cross-spoke wheels, a raised front fender, and knuckle guards. For added versatility, BMW provides a Pillion Package option that allows riders to add a pillion seat.
The exhaust system is uniquely designed with a left-hand single-flow arrangement, complete with a high-mounted rear silencer and conical tailpipe. These design touches not only enhance performance but also create a visually striking presence.

Suspension, Handling, and Features
For superior handling, the R 12 G/S features fully adjustable upside-down front forks with an impressive 210 mm of travel, while the rear suspension setup includes a monoshock system with 200 mm of travel. This configuration promises smooth rides over rough terrains and enhanced stability on challenging trails.
Cross-spoke wheels further reinforce the motorcycle’s off-road capabilities, with a 21-inch wheel at the front and a 17-inch rear wheel. For those seeking additional options, an 18-inch rear wheel is also available.

Equipped with Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and engine drag torque control (MSR), the motorcycle offers enhanced safety and control during rides. Additional features include keyless ignition, an LED headlight with optional adaptive functionality, and a round instrument cluster for seamless navigation.

BMW R12 G/S Powertrain and Performance
At the heart of the R 12 G/S lies the powerful 1,170 cc twin-cylinder boxer engine, which is air/oil-cooled. Borrowed from the R 12 nineT, this engine delivers 107 bhp at 7,000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Such robust performance ensures thrilling adventures both on and off the road.
The motorcycle offers multiple riding modes—Rain, Road, and Enduro—as standard, along with the additional Enduro Pro mode, which is exclusively available in the Enduro Package Pro. This customization enables riders to adapt to varying terrains and weather conditions.
