Kia India has launched the Kia Carens Clavis EV, marking its debut in the mass-market electric vehicle segment. Priced from Rs 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom), this three-row electric MPV keeps much of its petrol-powered design but adds new features tailored for electric driving. It offers two battery choices and comes with smart tech inside. The vehicle can go up to 490 km on a single charge, depending on the battery option chosen.

Design & Interior design
The Carens Clavis EV combines familiar features with new updates. It has a lightbar that is only for electric models, replacing the traditional chrome front, a front charging port for convenience. The car comes with 17-inch aero-optimized alloy wheels. Its storage is improved by a floating center console and a 25-litre frunk, with 200mm of ground clearance.
Inside, the vehicle features two 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment and instrument cluster. A large panoramic sunroof, while wireless charging keeps your devices powered. Ventilated seats provide extra comfort. You can change the ambient lighting in 64 colors to match your mood.

The Bose sound system delivers clear music, and tri-zone automatic climate control. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The car also comes with a built-in air purifier for cleaner air and a driver assistance suite to help keep you safe on the road.
The electric vehicle now only offers a bench seat option in the second row. The six-seat configuration is not available on this model. It is equipped with Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, six airbags, electronic stability control, anti-lock braking system, and tire pressure monitoring system.

Powertrain & Battery
The Clavis EV shares its platform with the Hyundai Creta Electric and is equipped with a front-wheel-drive motor. It can come with either a 42 kWh or a 51.4 kWh battery. The main specs include 133 horsepower for the 42 kWh version and 169 horsepower for the 51.4 kWh model.
It also supports Vehicle-to-Load charging, allowing power to be transferred to other devices. 7.4kW and 11kW AC chargers can charge quickly from 10% to 100%. Charging a 42kWh battery takes about 4 hours. For a 51.4kWh battery, it takes around 4.75 hours. This charging speed makes it easy to get back on the road fast. The vehicle is covered by Kia’s 8-year or 1,60,000 km warranty, offering added peace of mind.
