MG Windsor EV Launched At Rs 9.99 Lakh, Battery Rental Optional

The MG Windsor EV is the company’s third electric vehicle, following the ZS EV and Comet EV

MG has recently introduced the new Windsor EV in India, kicking off with prices as low as Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It’s important to mention that this price doesn’t cover the battery pack, which you can get through a subscription for Rs 3.5 per km. The Windsor is the third electric vehicle in MG’s collection, following the ZS EV and the Comet.

The MG Windsor EV offers three different models: Excite, Exclusive, and Essence, each available in four color choices: Starburst Black, Pearl White, Clay Beige, and Turquoise Green. If you’re interested in getting one, you can reserve your Windsor starting on October 3, and they’ll start delivering them on October 13. And for those eager to test drive, you can head to the dealerships from September 25, 2024.

MG Windsor Exterior

The MG Windsor EV looks like a standard MPV but can only fit five people in two rows, making it more like a bigger hatchback. It keeps things simple in its design, with sleek door handles, smooth surfaces, low headlights, and LED lights on both sides. The front of the Windsor steps up with headlamps on the bumper, a charging port, and LED tail lights, giving it a distinctive look.

You’ll notice shiny chrome details on the windows, door sills, front, and rear bumpers of the Windsor. It rolls on sleek 18-inch alloy wheels with a modern 5-spoke style. The MG Windsor EV is slightly shorter than the ZS EV, at 4,295 mm long. Yet, it stands tall at 1,677 mm and wide at 1,850 mm. With a 2,700 mm wheelbase, the Windsor EV provides more room in the back seats compared to the ZS EV.

MG Windsor Interior and Features

The minimalist style flows inside the vehicle, where black with copper accents dominates. Inside, you’ll find a floating 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a vast 15.6-inch touchscreen for infotainment. It also offers conveniences like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, rear AC vents, power-adjustable front seats, a premium 9-speaker Infinity sound system, a panoramic sunroof, an air-purification system, and ambient lighting.

In the EV, your rear seat is a comfortable experience where passengers can relax with the backrest reclining up to 135 degrees. Safety is also a priority, with Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, four disk brakes, front and rear parking sensors, and ESC. Plus, you get a huge 600-liter boot capacity for all your storage needs.

MG Windsor Battery Specifications

The MG Windsor EV runs on a 38kWh LFP battery made up of prismatic cells, giving you a range of 331km. Its motor at the front axle delivers 136hp and 200Nm of torque. You can choose from four driving modes: Eco+, Eco, Normal, and Sport. MG assures that the Windsor supports fast charging at 45kW. This means you can charge the batteries from 0 to 80 percent in just 55 minutes.

You’ll have the option to choose between 3.3kW and 7.7kW AC chargers for your vehicle. The 3.3kW charger can fully charge your battery from empty to full in approximately 14 hours, while the 7.7kW charger can do it in about 6.5 hours. MG provides a lifetime warranty for the battery with unlimited kilometers for those who are the first to purchase their vehicle. Additionally, they are giving free public charging for the initial year.
