Porsche India Issues Recall for 176 Porsche Taycan Electric Cars Due to Faulty Battery Module
Porsche India has initiated a voluntary recall for the Taycan electric sedan. This recall affects approximately 176 units in the country due to a potential defect in the battery cell or module, sourced from a specific supplier. The Porsche Taycan remains one of India’s most intriguing electric luxury vehicles.
Vehicles produced between October 21, 2019, and March 4, 2024, may be affected by a potential battery issue. According to reports, these models could have a faulty battery module supplier system. This defect may result in a battery module short circuit, potentially leading to a vehicle fire after thermal throttling.

The automaker has not yet officially announced a recall. We anticipate that the company will promptly address this issue at no cost to affected customers. Owners of the relevant models are encouraged to reach out to their nearest authorized Porsche dealership for further details.

Earlier this year in June, Porsche initiated a worldwide recall for all Taycan models due to a potential brake system defect. Affected vehicles would display a warning light on the dashboard, indicating a potential issue. While the exact number of recalled Taycan EVs was not specified, it is estimated to exceed 150,000 units globally. The underlying issue stems from the front brake hoses, where a limited number of vehicles have developed cracks. These cracks could result in brake fluid leakage, leading to reduced brake pressure and potentially compromising the overall braking system’s efficacy.
