Renault India Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Design Studio in Chennai

Renault Plans Major Comeback with 5 New Launches by 2027, Opens New Design Studio

Renault India has marked a milestone with the inauguration of its cutting-edge Renault Design Centre Chennai (RDCC), situated in its Technology & Business Centre in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This new facility is the French automotive brand’s largest design studio outside of Europe, following an investment of €1.5 million (approximately Rs 14.68 crore).

Revolutionizing Automotive Design

Spanning over 1,500 square meters, the RDCC boasts advanced technological setups, such as virtual reality systems for 3D modeling and an LED wall measuring 8.5 x 2.4 meters to showcase 1:1 scale designs. Additionally, virtual collaboration terminals allow seamless interaction between design teams across Renault’s global network, promoting a synergy that enables the studio to craft designs not just for the Indian market but also for Europe and beyond.

India’s Growing Role in Global Design

This includes adding local touches to global models like the new Renault Duster and contributing to designs such as the Renault R4 and R5 EVs launched in Europe.

Symbolic Beginnings with ‘Rethink’ Sculpture

To commemorate the studio’s inauguration, Renault unveiled the “Rethink” sculpture, a creative fusion of French and Indian cultural elements. With an SUV-inspired silhouette and abstract design features, it symbolizes the integration of traditional and digital design techniques.
