Tata Motors delivers 148 advanced Starbus EVs to BMTC, boosting Bengaluru’s e-mobility drive.
In a significant stride toward eco-friendly urban mobility, Tata Motors has commenced delivery of 148 advanced Starbus electric vehicles (EVs) to the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). This move reinforces Bengaluru’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and enhancing public transport efficiency.
The new fleet joins the existing 921 Tata electric buses already operational in the city, marking a robust expansion of Bengaluru’s green transportation network.

Flag-Off Ceremony Highlights Government Support
The induction ceremony was graced by Shri Ramalinga Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Transport, Government of Karnataka, and Shri Ramachandran R., IAS, Managing Director of BMTC. Their presence underscored the government’s proactive role in promoting sustainable mobility solutions.
Shri Ramachandran R. praised the performance of Tata’s existing electric fleet, noting its high uptime and public satisfaction. He emphasized that the new additions would further enhance safe, efficient, and eco-conscious travel across Bengaluru.

Features of the Tata Starbus EV
The Tata Starbus EV features a next-generation electric powertrain designed for top performance. It includes Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), which boost safety. The bus also has an integrated transport system that makes managing the fleet easier.
Its low-floor setup and ergonomic seats comfortably fit 35 passengers. Zero tailpipe emissions help improve air quality in Bengaluru. These features establish the Starbus EV as a leader in green public transport, offering comfort, safety, and eco-friendliness all in one.

Long-Term Commitment: 12-Year Operational Contract
The fleet will be operated and maintained by TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Motors, under a 12-year contract. This long-term partnership ensures consistent service quality and operational efficiency.
Mr. Anand S., Vice President and Head of TML Smart City Mobility Ltd., highlighted the milestone, stating that Tata’s electric buses have clocked over six crore cumulative kilometers with unmatched uptime, reflecting the brand’s reliability and innovation.
