Mahindra Thar Roxx Available in Both Petrol and Diesel Variants
Mahindra recently unveiled the Thar Roxx, also known as the Thar five-door. The prices kick off at Rs. 12.99 lahks for the petrol models and Rs. 13.99 lahks for the diesel ones (all prices, exshowroom) for the 4×2 variant in MX. This new version starts at Rs. 1.64 lakh more than the 3-door Thar model. If you’re interested, You can start booking on October 3rd. Deliveries of the Thar Roxx will kick off during Dussehra. And Thar Roxx comes in six different versions grouped under the MX and AX series – MX1, MX3, MX5, AX3L, AX5L, and AX7L.
Mahindra Thar Roxx Features, Interior and Exterior
Mahindra has added some cool features to the Thar Roxx model. This includes LED lights, a two-tone outside look, big 18-inch steel wheels, a 10.25-inch screen for music and more, a start button, an adjustable front seat, rear seats that fold in a 60:40 split, air vents in the back, and a USB-C port in the rear. Safety-wise, the Roxx is packed with six airbags, ESC, and three-point seat belts for everyone in the car.
The Roxx comes with different drive modes like Zip and Zoom, and various terrain modes such as snow, sand, and mud. It also boasts a rear camera, hill ascent and descent assist, and a traction control system. If you opt for the petrol-automatic version, you’ll get rear disc brakes. Plus, this variant offers extra perks like cruise control, a rear seat armrest, auto-dimming IRVM, wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and smartphone charging.

This beast measures 4,428 mm in length, 1,870 mm in width, and stands 1,928 mm tall. It’s perched on a 2,850 mm wheelbase. Mahindra boasts that this SUV is built on its spanking-new M-Glyde platform. It flaunts a double-wishbone front and Penta link rear suspension equipped with frequency selective damping. The new chassis is said to be 18% lighter than the old one, yet it’s sturdier, as per Mahindra.
Let’s talk about the Thar Roxx and its off-road capabilities. It boasts impressive numbers like a 41.7-degree approach angle, a 36.1-degree departure angle, and a 23.9-degree ramp-over angle. Mahindra claims the SUV can handle water up to 650 mm deep.
The Roxx model comes with a fresh look compared to the 3-door Thar. The new grille design stands out. While the headlamps still keep the circular style, they now feature LED projector lights with cool C-shaped Daytime Running Lamps. Upcoming higher-end models might even come with LED fog lights. In addition, the front bumpers sport distinctive touches like built-in fog light compartments and faux-brushed aluminum details in the middle. It’s probable that top-tier versions will include fog lights that can illuminate corners.

Thar Roxx comes with a two-tone paint scheme for most models and includes a black roof for a cool appearance with beefy wheel arches and cool 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels for the top models. For the mid-range versions, you can expect 18-inch alloys. The front door resembles the regular Thar, but the back door sports a distinct handle placed vertically. Also, there’s a triangular-shaped quarter glass behind the rear door. the tailgate now has space for the rear wiper and washer.
Mahindra Thar Roxx Powertrain
You can choose from different power options for the 2.0 petrol engine. The base model provides 150 bhp and 330 Nm, while higher variants offer a more robust performance with 160 bhp and 330 Nm. If you prefer an automatic transmission, you can go for the version that delivers a powerful 174 bhp and 380 Nm. On the other hand, the 2.2 diesel engine comes in two options: 150 bhp and 330 Nm or a stronger 172 bhp and 370 Nm, which is exclusively paired with an automatic gearbox. You have the flexibility to select between a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission for both engines. On the MX5, AX5 L, and AX7 L models, you have the choice to add four-wheel drive if you want.
