Tata Curvv Coupe-SUV Earns High Scores for Adult and Child Protection

Tata Motors recently had its Curvv coupe-SUV undergo crash testing by Bharat NCAP. Both the ICE and EV models received five-star ratings for protecting adult and child occupants. However, there were some variations in the scores between the two versions. The Curvv initially debuted as an all-electric vehicle back in August.

The Tata Curvv EV is available at a price range of Rs. 17.49 lakh to Rs. 21.99 lakh (ex-showroom). If you prefer the Tata Curvv Petrol and Diesel models, they start at a modest 9.99 lakh rupees and can go up to 17.70 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-end model.

Tata Curvv ICE BNCAP Crash Test Scores

When it comes to keeping adults safe, the ICE model of the Curvv SUV Coupe scored 29.50 out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection. It did well in safeguarding the head, neck, and chest of both the driver and passenger in a frontal crash test. But, the left leg protection for the driver was just okay, bringing the total score to 14.65 out of 16. In the assessment of the side movable barrier, they found that your head and abdomen were well-protected as a driver, but the chest support was just okay. As a result, the score amounted to 14.85 out of 16. When it comes to the side pole test, it showed that your head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis all had good protection.

The Curvv scored 43.66 out of 49 for keeping children safe in the car. When using a child seat, it got a total dynamic score of 22.66. Specifically, it scored 4 out of 4 for protecting 18-month-olds from side impacts, and 7.07 out of 8 for frontal protection. For 3-year-olds, it scored 4 out of 4 for side protection and 7.59 out of 8 for frontal protection.

The Curvv EV scored well in safety tests, getting 30.81 out of 32 points for how well it protects adults. When Bharat NCAP tested the Empowered Plus A 55 kWh version of this coupe-SUV, it did great. In the front crash test and the side crash test, it scored 15.66 out of 16 and 15.15 out of 16, respectively. The report highlighted that the driver and front passenger were well-protected, but the shin protection was just okay.

The safety of the Curvv EV stands out with a solid score of 44.83 out of 49 for protecting child passengers. They made sure the child seats for both the 18-month-old and 3-year-old were placed facing the rear seats. Interestingly, the lively rating for the 18-month-old mannequin reached a high of 12 points, leading to a total dynamic score of 23.83 out of 24. Similar to the Curvv ICE, the evaluation of the vehicle scored 9 points out of 13, with a perfect 12 out of 12 points granted for installing child restraints. These ratings and scores apply to all versions of the Curvv ICE.

The Curvv EV is packed with safety features including six airbags, 3-point seatbelts for all occupants, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, hill-start and descent assist for challenging terrains, rain-sensing wipers, adaptive cruise control for a more comfortable drive, auto-dimming IRVMs for improved visibility, a driver drowsiness alert system to help you stay alert, and a blind spot monitor to boost your awareness., and Level 2 ADAS features for added safety. Additionally, there’s a sound alert that kicks in at speeds up to 20kph to warn pedestrians around you.
