Mahindra Thar Waiting Period Drops to 3 Months Following Thar Roxx Launch
The Mahindra Thar has been a top choice for SUV lovers in India for quite a while. This three-door lifestyle SUV was released in 2020 and became a hit. The demand for this SUV has been so high that waiting times have gone beyond a year for certain models in the past.
But now, thanks to increased production and more monthly deliveries, the local SUV maker has cut down the wait time for the Mahindra Thar to under three months. What’s intriguing is that this change occurred shortly after introducing the Mahindra Thar Roxx, a five-door version of the popular off-road vehicle, offering practicality along with style.

Mahindra Thar’s waiting period
The Thar SUV’s 4×4 models are in high demand with a waiting period of about three months. You can choose between a soft-top or hardtop option. If you opt for the hardtop, you might have to wait up to three months for the petrol version and up to two months for the diesel model.
If you’re eyeing the soft-top convertible model, get ready for a wait of around three months, whether you opt for the petrol or diesel engine. Similarly, if you have your heart set on the Thar 4×2 version, be prepared to wait for approximately two months, regardless of whether you choose the petrol or diesel engine.

Mahindra Thar Powertrain
Mahindra Thar 4×4 is priced from Rs 14.30 lakh to 17 lakh for the petrol models, and from Rs 14.85 lakh to 17.60 lakh for the diesel versions. Thar 4×4 comes with two engine options. You can choose between a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine or a 2.2-liter diesel motor. These engines offer flexibility with a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed torque converter automatic unit. The petrol engine delivers 150 bhp peak power, while the diesel engine provides 130 bhp peak power.
The Mahindra Thar 4×2 model prices range from Rs 11.35 lakh to Rs 14.10 lakh. Thar 4×2 offers two engine options. One is a 1.5-liter diesel engine paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. The other choice is a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine, which is the same as the one available in the 4×4 model. The diesel engine delivers 116 bhp power and 300 Nm torque. It comes with a standard six-speed manual gearbox. On the other hand, the 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine only comes with a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
