Bajaj Freedom 125 Achieves Milestone: Over 11,000 CNG Bikes Sold in October
Bajaj Auto recently introduced the Freedom 125, the world’s first CNG motorcycle, in India. This new technology has quickly become popular among customers and led to a significant rise in sales, especially during the festive seasons like Dussehra and Diwali in October.
Based on Vahan data up to November 4th at 7 am, Bajaj successfully sold 20,942 units of the ‘Bajaj Freedom 125’ motorcycle from July to November 3. Interestingly, the model became a favorite with 11,041 units sold in October. Sales figures for September, August, and July were 4,937, 4,111, and 272 units, respectively. In just the first three days of November, 581 units were sold, highlighting the continued interest in this model.

The sales numbers during the initial weeks following the product’s launch in July were in the hundreds. This was due to a limited release in just two states – Maharashtra and Gujarat, which are well-equipped with CNG filling stations. However, things started looking up after August 15 when the company made the Freedom 125 available in 77 towns and cities throughout India, including Delhi and Kerala. This expansion also reached Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns where the CNG infrastructure is slowly expanding.

Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG: Price, Feature
The Bajaj Freedom 125 is priced at Rs 95,000. This bike comes in three versions: Drum, Drum LED (Rs 1.05 lakh), and Disc LED (Rs 1.10 lakh, excluding taxes). You can choose from seven color options, including dual-tone paints: Caribbean Blue, Pewter Grey/Black, Cyber White, Ebony Black/Grey, Racing Red, Cyber White, Pewter Grey/Yellow, and Ebony Black/Red.
The motorcycle comes with 10-spoke alloy wheels, a front disc brake, and a rear drum brake. Bajaj says that the Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG bike has the longest seat in its category, measuring 785mm. Additional standout features are its stylish design, strong trellis frame, and a linked mono shock for a smooth ride. Furthermore, the top-tier model includes a modern negative LCD display that links up with Bluetooth for added convenience.

Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG: Engine
The Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG Bike comes with a 125 cc, single-cylinder engine of 9.4 bhp and 9.7 Nm of torque. The CNG tank is smartly positioned under the seat and The petrol and CNG refueling ports share a common flap. If you run Bajaj’s Freedom solely on CNG, you can go up to 102 kilometers per kilogram of CNG. By using CNG, you can cut your daily running expenses by half, reduce CO2 emissions by 26 percent, and save up to Rs 75,000 on fuel costs over 5 years compared to a regular 125 cc motorcycle that runs on petrol only.
When using petrol, the scooter’s fuel efficiency drops significantly – achieving 53.4 kilometers per liter in urban areas and 62.37 kilometers per liter on highways. In terms of emissions, the Freedom 125 emits considerably less CO2, with a reduction of 26.7% compared to petrol bikes. Additionally, it produces 85% fewer NMHCs (non-methane hydrocarbons) and 43% less NOx (nitrogen oxide) emissions than its petrol counterparts.
