The Mahindra XUV400 EV scored 30.38 points for adult occupant protection and 43 points for child occupant protection.
The Mahindra XUV400 EV has achieved a top-notch five-star rating for keeping both adults and children safe from harm, as determined by the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP). This outstanding safety recognition matches the ratings earned by the XUV 3X0 and Thar Roxx SUVs, which also scored a full five stars in the crash tests conducted by the agency. It’s worth noting that this high safety rating applies across all versions of the XUV400.

Mahindra XUV400 Adult Occupant Protection Score
In the Adult Occupant Protection rating, the XUV400 achieved a score of 30.38 out of a possible 32 points. This score is slightly better than its direct competitor, the Nexon EV, which scored 29.86. However, it’s important to mention that the Curvv EV received a higher score of 30.81, and the Punch EV scored even better at 31.46.
Specifically, the XUV400 EV earned 14.38 out of 16 points in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and a perfect 16 out of 16 points in the side movable deformable barrier test. The safety organization pointed out that only in the frontal offset test, the dummy on the driver’s side had lower protection levels for its chest and legs.

Mahindra XUV400 Child Occupant Protection Scores
The XUV400 did well in terms of Child Occupant Protection, scoring 43 out of 49 points. It got full marks in Dynamic (24) and CRS (child seat restraint) installation (12), and 7 out of 13 points in vehicle assessment. This score gives Mahindra’s EV a 5-star rating. However, it’s worth mentioning that the Nexon EV (44.95), Curvv EV (44.83), and Punch EV (45) all scored a bit higher in this aspect.
Mahindra XUV400 Safety Features
Both versions of the XUV400, the EC Pro, and the EL Pro come with essential safety features like ESP, ABS with EBD, rear disc brakes, tire pressure monitor, rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX anchors. The EC Pro base model includes two airbags, while the EL Pro upgrade offers six airbags and a reverse camera for added safety.
