Mahindra Thar Roxx Achieves Outstanding Scores in Adult and Child Occupant Protection
In the recent round of Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP) crash tests, Mahindra achieved quite a feat. Three of its SUVs, namely the Mahindra Thar Roxx, XUV 3XO, and the all-electric XUV 400, all received five-star ratings. The Thar Roxx stood out by obtaining the highest scores for protecting both adults and children compared to any other Mahindra vehicle.

Mahindra Thar Roxx Adult Occupant Protection Score
The Thar Roxx scored an impressive 31.09 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection (AOP). This is the second-highest AOP score among Bharat NCAP vehicles, just behind the Tata Punch EV with 31.46 out of 32 points. The report highlighted good protection for the head and neck of both the driver and passenger. However, it mentioned that the protection for the driver’s chest and knees was considered adequate.
The Roxx performed really well in safety tests. It got a score of 15.09 out of 16.00 in the frontal crash test and a perfect score of 16.00 in the side crash test, which means it provides excellent protection. In the side pole crash test, it was rated as okay, and it also met all the requirements of the ESC test. So, you can feel confident about the Roxx’s safety features. However, unlike Global NCAP crash test reports, Bharat NCAP does not mention whether the body shell stayed strong during impact or if it could handle more pressure.

Mahindra Thar Roxx Child Occupant Protection Scores
In terms of child safety, the Thar Roxx performs well, scoring 45 out of 49 points, which is the highest achieved alongside the Tata Punch EV. It aced the dynamic test and CRS installation test, earning full points in both. Additionally, it scored 9 out of 13 on the vehicle assessment test. During testing, both an 18-month-old and a 3-year-old dummy were secured in rearward-facing child seats in the front passenger seat using ISOFIX anchorages and a support leg. However, Bharat NCAP doesn’t give as much information about how well child dummies are protected as Global NCAP does.
Mahindra Thar Roxx Safety Features
The Thar Roxx is packed with safety features to keep you and your passengers secure. You’ll find six airbags, three-point seatbelts with reminders, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ISOFIX anchors, a passenger-side airbag cut-off switch in this vehicle, 360-degree cameras, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. It meets AIS-100 pedestrian protection standards and even offers Level2 ADAS like autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and blind spot monitoring in its top-spec models.
