Announcing the news, Skoda Auto India’s Brand Director, Petr Janeba, stated, “10 days and 10,000 bookings, without a car in the showroom! For us, Kylaq is a completely new car, in a completely new sub-4m SUV segment. These 10,000 bookings have come without any possibility for customers to experience Kylaq, which reflects the unmatchable trust in the Skoda brand, and we are extremely humbled. We are confident that Kylaq will democratize European technology on Indian roads.”

Skoda reports that the new Kylaq has undergone testing for over 800,000 kilometers. This subcompact SUV is packed with 25 safety features, both active and passive. These include six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction and stability control, anti-lock brakes, Electronic Brake Distribution, three-point seatbelts, Brake Disc Wiping, Roll Over Protection, Motor Slip Regulation, Electronic Differential Lock, passenger airbag deactivation, Multi-Collision Braking, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and much more.

Skoda Kylaq SUV: Powertrain
When it comes to the engine, the Kylaq is powered by the well-known VW Group 1.0-liter TSI turbo-petrol engine that Skoda and VW use in India. This engine delivers 114 horsepower and 178 Nm of torque at its peak. The power is transmitted to the front wheels through a standard 6-speed manual gearbox. However, buyers have the choice of a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Skoda states that the Kylaq can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.5 seconds.
