Luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has issued a voluntary safety recall for select units of its flagship vehicles in India, including the S-Class, Maybach, AMG SL 55, GLC, and EQS sedans, citing a serious fire hazard stemming from possible faults in the fuse box.

According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), 30 units manufactured between July 2023 and April 2024 have been impacted by this issue. The concern lies in potentially improper reworking of fuse boxes, which could trigger cascading effects such as: Propulsion and restraint system failures, Malfunctioning instrument clusters, and Increased risk of thermal events (fire).
